Naruga Kuruga in-progress pictures + notes

For this year’s Expcon cosplay I decided to make the monster Naruga Kuruga/Nargacuga from Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G/Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Unfortunately, not many people knew what character I was supposed to be. Only very few were able to recognize me, and they wished they had a weapon to hunt down the monster. ._.

After attending ExpCon last year in 2009, I met a Kilala quadsuit cosplayer and thought it was so cool. After that, I wanted to make a quadsuit so I planned on Naruga Kuruga in June/July. I slowly started working on it in August, but started rushing to sew the pieces together in September. I believe the hardest part for me to sew were the upper arms and the crotch are; luckily none of the seams fell apart. Oh yes, I double stitched the sides, shoulders, and leg seams to reinforce it.

This was my very first attempt at a mascot/creature cosplay and it was extremely hot. But luckily the air conditioning at the convention made things bearable. That and the fans in my head. :) If only I knew how to use the Camelbak.
I would like to try and make another quadsuit again. Just need to patch up my dummy since it ripped in some places.

Well I copied this from my Facebook notes. This might help as some reference to others trying to make a quadsuit. I hope this helps others. I might upload sketch plans, in-progress shots, as well as pictures but I’m not so sure since my costume was very dark. If anyone has taken pictures of the Naruga Kuruga at Expcon 2010 on Saturday, can you please tell/show me? Thanks! ^_^
Construction notes can be found in a previous post.

*sigh* lost my post.
Anyways, its been awhile since I made a blog post (aside from the recent post on how I made my costume).

I was showing my friend Mr. Dollfie which is a Dollfie EB-N (male). Its been a long time since I touched this toy so I sort of forgot how to remove the head properly. I guess I didn’t have it at the right position before attempting to remove it. So the little peg in the body that holds the neck joint came off. I thought I screwed up big time.

Mr. Dollfie

Grow-a-Fish

Bought a Dollfie EB-N (male) a few months ago. I was hoping to create an outfit for him to wear. Almost finished with it, just have to fix the sleeves, add a tail, and the hood. The majority of the outfit was sewn using a sewing machine and some parts hand-sewn. I just lined it with a shiny fabric for the heck of it. Snaps were added to the jacket (makes for a bit of a tight fit). Unfortunately, I seemed to have lost motivation and trailed off somewhere (playing MH3 -Tri. haha)

The body was sanded & sprayed with Testors clear dullcote. I actually attempted a Faceup on a tan male Volks head, but I decided to remove it and try again (someday). I hope to finish the outfit and manage to do the face.

They live…

By they, I meant the triops that I got from the store. I originally had them in a white container used for storing food. I was getting worried by not seeing anything moving so I decided to try and hatch them in a different container. I decided to transfer them to a clear container that was used to hold soup. (I did clean beforehand) I poured water from a water bottle and put that teabag looking thing to stay for a couple of hours before transferring everything over. It turns out they’re very, very, very miniscule and can be seen with the help of a light in a dark room. That makes me glad. I thought I messed up somewhere. I do hope to get a small plastic critter cage and maybe… Triops hatchery? I possibly doubt it. I’ve got other things on my radar. But I look forward to watching these squigglies grow.

Finally went and made an account over at The Hive to comment on a certain lively thread. I’m all for it even though the franchise may have gone downhill. I still love the game :)

I remember when I was a little girl, I made a wishlist for Santa to receive. On that list was a ‘Triops set’. Next morning I got it and I was amazed by these teeny little creatures (they actually started getting bigger in size after eating each other. I thought that was the coolest thing…till I spilled the cage Continue Reading Triops anyone?…

Eileen Banner

This is an old banner I made to use on my imeem webpage back around 2007-2008. I altered a Virtua Fighter Type-B/C Eileen wallpaper by changing different parts of her outfits to customized colours. I’ve never used my tablet that much just to make different selections to colour. I was pretty satisfied with the banner. :)
